Design, check and ride detailed bicycles

Design every part of a bicycle in 3D, check geometry and parts compatibility, then take it for a ride — right in your browser.

VariVelo is a parametric bicycle configurator. You build a whole bike from real part geometry and real standards, not from swapped-in pictures: every part is placed and dimensioned from real interface geometry, such as bottom-bracket shell widths, headset stack heights and dropout spacing. Every change shows up in 3D.

What you can do

Real parts, named sources

Components come from real manufacturers and real models. Fit is computed against the standards that actually govern it, not asserted by eye. 24 frame topologies run through the same constraint engine, from full-size road and MTB geometry down to Birdy-class folders.

Tyre and rim dimensions follow ETRTO, the European Tyre and Rim Technical Organisation, and are used here with their permission; ETRTO is the source of that data. Headset dimensions follow SHIS (Cane Creek), frame test loads reference ISO 4210, and the lighting check simulates the StVZO values, a simulation and not a type approval. Where a number is an educated approximation rather than a published figure, the parameter says so in plain words instead of pretending to precision. The sources page lists where the numbers come from.

Where it runs

Open it in a current browser with JavaScript and WebGL on a laptop or desktop computer, or on a tablet in landscape (at least 1024 × 640 points). A phone can look at bikes but cannot build one. The interface is in English; legal texts are also in German.

Status

VariVelo is in beta. The compatibility checks and numbers are guidance and do not replace a professional fit check or your frame builder’s judgment. Saving and sharing need an account. Built by André L Schauer.
